OUR STORY

Gary Belsky and Neil Fine began working together at ESPN The Magazine in 1998, discovering a shared passion for big ideas and surprising executions. A partnership was born, leading to iconic editorial franchises (ESPN's Body Issue and Ultimate Standings), bestselling books (23 Ways to Get to First Base), memorable public performances (with Pop-Up Magazine) and, in 2012, Elland Road Partners. The pair quickly learned that solving storytelling problems for all kinds of editorial and marketing brands offered interesting opportunities for original thinking. They likewise found that a consulting and creative services agency allowed them to collaborate with some of their favorite people, building a team committed to helping organizations find a voice with which to reach and expand their audiences.

We conceive and execute impactful editorial and content strategies across all media platforms, bringing ideas to life ourselves and teaching internal teams how to do so when we're long gone. • For editorial brands, we offer provocative perspectives and cost-efficient solutions. • For all other organizations, we use a journalistic lens to identify a client's unique intellectual capital and develop ways to share it smartly. • We also use archiving and oral histories to create narrative assets that build brands today and establish legacies for tomorrow. • We provide leadership coaching focused on developing revenue-generating ideas and removing roadblocks to their creation. • Our work for commercial businesses, editorial platforms and nonprofit organizations has resulted in compelling videos, websites, magazines, apps, social media feeds, articles, marketing collateral, annual reports, field guides, speeches, books and live events. We are proud of it all.

Our Team


We are big-dreaming strategists, writers, editors, designers, videographers and producers. Our work, individually and collaboratively, has appeared in AARPCrain’s New York Business, mentalfloss.com, money.com, newyorker.com, Real Simple, The New York Times, The Washington PostTime, Fusion, xoJane.com and many other platforms. Our publishers include Artisan Books, Hyperion Books, Random House and Simon & Schuster. The television programming we have helped to conceive or produce includes Cheap Seats, Cold Pizza, E:60, Gameday, NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. Our team members have worked on marketing and PR projects for eBay, Everything But Water, NASDAQ, Skype, Target and Whistle Sports. We prefer to work with well-intentioned and interesting clients, not least because we like to engage in spirited arguments as much as we enjoy making reasoned decisions. (Also, we like candy. Probably too much.)
